Bistra Pisancheva is a Bulgarian lacemaker, especially known for her landscapes in bobbin lace, which are made in an untraditional way, mixing many different threads and textures. Having a degree in Bulgarian Philology and finishing her second degree, Interpretative Anthropology, she has been teaching bobbin lace at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, in the speciality of Fashion, for five years. It is a real pleasure to be able to count with her for this course in Spain.
Antje González is the founder and director of the bobbin lace magazine Vuelta y Cruz/ Twist and Cross and the organizer of this course. She will help you with the translation and will be the intermediary between you and the teacher. She has known Bistra personally for over 8 years, and has no doubt that this course will be unique, because of its special free technique, because of the charm of the teacher, and because of the good results and good atmosphere that you can always obtain from her own courses.
THE PLACE AND HOW TO ARRIVE:
Guadalajara is located 56 kms east of Madrid and 28 kms from Alcalá de Henares (birthplace of Cervantes). You can reach us either by car (dual carriageway A2), or by train (line C2), or by high speed train AVE (arriving the station of Yebes, 15 minutes from town) or bus ALSA (it leaves from the bus station at Avda. América, Madrid, shelter 221, level -2). If you come from further away, Madrid Airport is half an hour from Guadalajara.
Guadalajara is a small, quiet and friendly town. The course will be held in the centre of town, so that you will have your lodging near and will also be able to eat nearby and stroll the streets.
For those who need it, we will facilitate detailed information about available hotels and restaurants with reasonable prices.
In order to participate in this course, it is important to come with an open mentality. The teacher speaks little Spanish and no English, but she speaks Italian. The technique we want to learn is quite free, and we have to adapt our way of working, especially if we are used to follow diagrams and work with some established “rules”. But this is precisely what we want to learn from Bistra in this course: we want to be caught up by a little of her creativity using different stitches, varying them as we please and obtaining a good result.
To book your course, you have to pay in advance. Please get in touch with Antje, either by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by phone (0034 685970637) for more details.
